The Downwind SUP World Cup at Foiling Week, Lake Garda, brought pure foil adventure to life as riders launched into an early morning mission that turned into a fast-paced, wind-powered race. On the second day of the downwind window, competitors gathered at sunrise and were transported by boat to the lake’s northern tip, where classic Garda wind conditions awaited.

Riders took off riding the southbound breeze and chasing the rolling bumps for a 6-mile downwind run along one of Europe’s most scenic foiling playgrounds. Athletes competed in two categories: traditional SUP Foil boards and Foil Drive-assisted setups, each crowning a champion after an intense and closely matched race.

In the SUP Foil Division, Switzerland’s Robert Von Roll edged out Austria’s Jurij Scheibler in a tight battle to the finish line. Meanwhile, in the Foil Drive Division, France’s Philippe Axmann powered his way to the win just ahead of Dutch competitor Dominic Hoskyns.

The race concluded in front of an enthusiastic shoreline crowd, who welcomed the riders as they completed the scenic course — blending endurance, strategy, and pure joy of downwind foiling. It was another strong showcase of the Surf Foil World Tour’s commitment to evolving foil disciplines, celebrating both athletic performance and the spirit of exploration.
