The Surf Foil World Tour heads to the South Pacific for the first-ever SFT Tahitian Foil Festival World Cup, taking place May 8–17, 2026 in Tahiti. Organized in partnership with the Tahitian Foil Club, this 100% foil event celebrates the rapidly growing world of foiling in one of the most spectacular ocean environments on the planet. Set against Tahiti’s dramatic volcanic mountains, crystal-clear lagoons, and legendary reef passes, the event invites both international athletes and the local Tahitian foiling community to compete across three disciplines while experiencing the unique culture and natural beauty of the islands.
Four Disciplines, One Foiling Festival
This event brings together surf, pump, wake and downwind foiling disciplines in a single celebration of performance, endurance, and ocean connection.
SFT Surf Foil World Cup
Tahiti is famous for its powerful reef breaks and long, rolling ocean energy. The Surf Foil discipline will allow riders to showcase technical skill, wave selection, and control as they harness Tahiti’s natural ocean energy above the reef.
SFT Wake Foil World Cup
Wake Foil competition highlights pure foiling skill and creativity. Riders launch from behind the boat, while maintaining flight above the water. This discipline has quickly become one of the most accessible and exciting forms of foiling progression.
SFT Downwind Challenge World Cup – Moorea to Tahiti
One of the highlights of the festival will be the Downwind Challenge, featuring both 15 km coastal courses and an iconic 30 km open-ocean crossing from Moorea to Papeete.
This legendary channel crossing offers riders the opportunity to glide across deep blue Pacific waters, linking ocean swells while navigating wind, current, and endurance in one of the world’s most scenic downwind routes.
SFT Pump Foil World Cup
Pump Foil showcases the art of self-propelled flight. Using rhythm, technique, and efficiency, riders generate their own speed by pumping the board to stay above the water without waves or wind. In Tahiti’s calm lagoon conditions, this discipline highlights endurance, precision, and flow, pushing athletes to maintain continuous glide over distance.
