Kresser, Wicander Win SFT E-Foil World Cup and Axmann Wins Foil Drive at Lake Garda

The SFT E-Foil World Cup brought early morning electricity to Foiling Week Lake Garda, where elite riders tackled a tight, technical H-style 6-buoy course wrapping around the marina docks — built for speed, maneuverability, and thrilling close-up viewing.

Racing kicked off at sunrise to take advantage of the glassy conditions, drawing spectators from the sailing community who were waiting for the afternoon winds. Instead of timed trials, the event featured a round-robin, head-to-head format, where each rider faced every other rider in a battle of consistency, strategy, and cornering finesse.

The E-Foil competitors competed in a full round-robin, racing each other one-on-one across multiple heats. Once the matchups concluded, Austria’s Clemens Kresser emerged as the dominant force, notching five wins to take the overall victory. Piet Varkevisser (NED) followed closely behind, with windsurfing legend Kai Katchadourian (USA) securing third in an impressive crossover performance.

In the Women’s division, Sweden’s Agnes Wicander proved she’s one to watch—not only winning her category but also finishing just 1.5 seconds off Varkevisser’s best time in a thrilling matchup.

The Foil Drive category ran its own head-to-head series, with Philippe Axmann (FRA) taking top honors, followed by Dominic Hoskyns (NED) and Gael Daniele (ITA).

The waterfront layout offered ideal spectating, with fans lining the shore and docks to witness high-speed passes, tight buoy turns, and edge-of-the-board maneuvering up close.
